in online sales

Shop Launch was built from a real turnaround.

Before Unique Wholefood became known as two organic health food stores in Sydney, it started online.

Within the first year, the business had grown enough to open two retail shops, launched only months apart. As the stores grew, the online store slowly took a back seat.

It was still there, but it wasn’t operating as a serious sales channel. It wasn’t properly connected to store operations, local delivery, fulfilment, product management, or future growth.

The Origin

Unique Wholefood was running on WooCommerce, a popular Wordpress ecommerce platform.

It had worked in the early days, but as the catalogue and business grew, the infrastructure became fragile.

The goal was to build a better online experience that matched the brand. That led to a custom Magento ecommerce platform project.

On paper, it made sense. Magento could be customised, shaped around the brand, and built for a large catalogue.

In practice, the project became slow, expensive, and difficult to complete.

Almost two years, a highly rated enterprise Sydney web agency, and over $100,000 later, the launch was not a success.

No fully functioning website which meant:

  • Low sales

  • Basic functions

  • Difficult backend systems

The turning point

We were brought in to help manage the Magento project and turn it around.

At first, the goal was to improve communication, support development, and move the website towards launch.

But after six months, it became clear the problem wasn’t just project management.

The solution itself wasn’t scalable.

Basic features required too much custom development, and every improvement added more complexity.

So we stopped asking:

“How do we make this custom build work?”

And started asking:

“What does this business actually need to sell online properly?”

Finding a better foundation

That search led us to Shopify.

Shopify gave us a stable platform that handled the core technology out of the box: products, payments, checkout, apps, order management, reporting, integrations, staff access, and fulfilment workflows.

That foundation allowed us to focus on what actually mattered.

  • Customer experience

  • Product structure

  • Sales

  • Marketing

  • Local delivery

  • Fulfilment

  • Promotions

  • Staff training

  • Day-to-day operations

Instead of fighting platform problems, we could build an online sales channel around the way the store actually worked.

What became Shop Launch

The biggest lesson was simple:

Local retailers don’t just need a website.

They need an online sales system their team can actually run.

After rebuilding Unique Wholefood’s online store, we packaged the lessons, systems, and processes into Shop Launch.

Shop Launch helps local retailers build practical online sales channels connected to daily operations.

Not just Shopify websites.
Not just pretty pages.
Not disconnected online stores.

We help build the system around the store: product structure, customer journey, local delivery, fulfilment, marketing foundations, staff training, operational handover, and repeatable sales flow.

That’s what turns an online store into a real growth channel.

The next Chapter

In January 2026, we launched The Halal Meat Guy through the Shop Launch system.

It proved the lessons from Unique Wholefood could apply beyond one business.

Different brand.
Different Customers.
Different products.
Same core problem.

A local retailer with real demand needed a better way to sell online, manage customer experience, and support growth beyond the shopfront.

That’s the transformation Shop Launch delivers .

Why Shop Launch exists

We’ve seen what happens when local retailers try to grow online without the right foundation.

They get stuck with fragile systems, expensive custom builds, disconnected tools, or websites that look fine but don’t support real operations.

We believe a retailer’s online store should not become another burden.

It should help the business sell more, serve customers better, support local delivery, increase repeat orders, and create growth options beyond the shopfront.

We started inside the problem.

We helped rebuild the system.

Now we help other local retailers do the same.
